NX CAM Post Processor and Simulation Developer
ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for someone to join our growing team to help develop NX CAM post processors and simulation kits (“NX Productivity Environments”). You will get to work on interesting client-facing projects to help increase efficiency and productivity in the manufacturing industry. You will work on a variety of machines relating to milling, turning, vertical mills, mill-turns, grinding, additive, and specialty machines. This position requires someone who is willing to dive in and learn about a wide range of unique machines and different controllers such as Siemens, Fanuc, Okuma, Heidenhain, etc.
Development work includes creation of all aspects of an NX Productivity Environment, which sometimes is completed as a team or by a single engineer. You will have the opportunity to develop a specialty or expertise that can be applied across many customer projects or grow more broadly.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Development
• Development of post processors, digital twins / simulations, kinematic models, and NX Productivity Environments
• Create User Documentation for NX Productivity Environments
• Maintain existing NX Productivity Environments, including updates, bug fixes, and creation of new functionality
Support
Customer testing and acceptance of NX Productivity Environments
Provide training of customer staff
Coordinate with customer technical requests and support needs
Serve as liaison between customer and interact with Siemens GTAC
Submit IRs (incident reports) and enhancement requests (ERs) with Siemens for any software bugs
Determine both short- and long-term solutions for customer needs
Follow up to ensure our issues are addressed
Provide and document maintenance requests
Training
Dedication to learning the NX CAM architecture and backend, such as:
Post configurator, machine configurator, machine tool builder, machine editor, and other auxiliary applications required for development work
Basic and Advanced NX CAM Toolpaths
Object oriented CAM structure
Creation and use of templates
Machining Knowledge Database
Environment file structure
Machining Data Libraries
Team Center
MRL
And others
There will be self-paced training and spending time with senior developers to learn
COMMUNICATION
Provide effective communication to team members
Train other engineers, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required
Degree in science, math, or technical field degree from an accredited college or institution
Experience in CNC Programming and CAM software
Good written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Preferred
Experience with:
NX CNC Programming, such as creating and running NC code
Software coding languages and development
Post-processor development and debugging
Programming multiple types of CNC machines, such as:
Milling, mill-turn, vertical turning center (VTC), horizontal machining centers (HMC), etc.
High-level machine tool controls including macro programming, probing, and other advanced techniques
Machine shop / manufacturing facility processes
Knowledge of:
Variety of controllers and willing to learn new controller types
CNC programming techniques and process
Feeds, speeds, and cutting tool applications
Geometry and trigonometry
Fixture specifications, design, and work holding
A strong sense of curiosity and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing and specification requirements
Location
Albany, New York or Remote.
Travel Requirements
Less than 10% travel to customer sites, partners, or other business-related travel.
